An installation in the Ballroom at the Royal Festival Hall.
My aim in designing the installation was to create an environment where the work made by children and young people was displayed to its best potential. A space where the audience can linger and enjoy the poetry library.
I love libraries and the way that leafing through the pages of a book triggers thoughts. Reading to children is a particular joy, not only the text, but also opportunity to indulge in the often vibrant colour and patterns of the illustrations.
I wanted to bring these rich textures into the exhibition design to link the pages of children’s books with the domestic interiors where we house our personal collections.
The Imaginarium is a place where ideas can take flight, where daydreams turn into birds and soar above our heads.
